Description

Location. The contemporary Andaz Liverpool Street London is located next to Liverpool Street Station in The City, the financial district of central London, England. The Tower of London is half a mile away and Tower Bridge is a short walk further on. St Paul's Cathedral and the Barbican Arts Centre are within a mile of the hotel. Liverpool Street railway and Tube station is a few steps away.
Hotel Features. Built in 1884, this Grade II-listed railway hotel was redesigned for the millennium. The Victorian red-brick frontage was restored, and a central atrium was added.

The Andaz Liverpool Street's five on-site restaurants and four bars range from an informal pub dishing up steak-and-kidney pie to a chic champagne bar serving oysters and caviar.

There are 12 meeting rooms for 10-400 people and a business centre.

The hotel's health club has a fitness room in a former Masonic lodge, with personal trainers and yoga instruction available (surcharge may apply). Spa treatments are available (surcharge).

Guestrooms. The Andaz's 267 climate-controlled guestrooms are decorated in a minimalist style. Some have period architectural details such as fireplaces. All rooms have complimentary wireless Internet connections, satellite TV with free unlimited movies, (excludes adult movies), free local calls, CD/DVD players, and minibars stocked with complimentary organic juice and water. Bathroooms have bathrobes and designer toiletries. A complimentary laundry service is also offered.

Expert Tip. If guests are overcome with the romance of London, the hotel is licensed to marry couples with little notice.

From Heathrow Airport (LHR):
Distance to The Great Eastern Hotel is 20 miles, approximately 60 minutes' drive.

Getting there. The Heathrow Express train is the quickest way into London. It departs from the airport every 15 minutes, and takes 15 minutes to reach Paddington Station in central London. The journey is non-stop and costs 14.50 GBP. Paddington is on the Hammersmith and City, District and Circle, and Bakerloo lines of London's Underground (Tube). Additionally, the airport is on the Piccadilly line of the Underground, which runs directly to Kings Cross, Leicester Square, Knightsbridge, and Green Park underground stations. The journey to central London takes approximately one hour, and trains depart every 10 minutes. A one-day travel pass costs 6.30 GBP, including travel to Heathrow (in zone 6). Getting around. The Great Eastern Hotel is a short walk from Liverpool Street Underground station. The London Underground (Tube) and buses are the easiest ways to travel within London. Single tickets are expensive, but an electronic Oyster card offers a cheaper fare. Oyster cards can be purchased from ticket offices for 3 GBP (refundable). Black taxis are available on the streets, but can be expensive. Driving is not recommended for visitors and a congestion charge zone is operated in central London. Valet parking (surcharge) and a limousine service (surcharge) are available.

Weekend idyll

We had a great weekend break at the Andaz. The staff were friendly, service exceptional, rooms fantastic and the location was spot on. Can't really fault it other than the fact that the main restuarant '1901' is closed on a weekend. We were looking for a really special meal and this would have been just perfect. There were plenty of options in and around the hotel though so no real problems. Definitely try it - I am fussy and this is the best 4* in London I've been to. We'll be back!

Excellent hotel

Great location to see the city only a stone's throw from Liverpool Street Station. Very impressive on arrival. Staff were pleasant and helpful even at midnight when we had a minor problem with air con. They were quick and efficient. Breakfast was superb in room.

Superb so pleased we chose to stay here sheer pleasure

Superb location for anyone travelling into London and arriving at Liverpool Street. Just walk out of the station and into the hotel, well 2 mins max walk! Unload the baggage, complimentary drink to refresh you and back to Liverpool underground to start hitting the City Sights. Perfect.

Exceeded expectations

The Andaz hotel exceeded all claims on its the website. Clean, efficient, good value, pleasant staff, adequate breakfast (included) and an excellent location in "The City" combined for a great stay. The newly renovated hotel was great value and I would definitely recommend it to other travellers.

excellent hotel conveniently placed

This hotel has a relaxed atmosphere, which starts with the slightly unusual reception area.which does not have a member of staff hiding behind a reception desk. The staff that we dealt with were friendly & extremely helpful. The only complaint was that there is no hair-dryer in the rooms, although not a problem for some of us!The hotel is wonderfully placed for Liverpool street station & underground.

Stunning Rooms but the hotel lacks atmosphere

On the plus - the rooms are gorgeous - very modern, clean and spacious. Fruit Drinks and water in the mini bar is provided free of charge and the rooms were really quiet. On the minus, Entrance to the hotel is very bland with no atmosphere. The staff weren't exactly buzzing with friendliness. Two of the three lifts were broken for our stay, leaving us to wait up to 10 minutes for a lift to come and then you were lucky if you could fit in.

Great hotel great location

Very simple to summarise, hotel accomodation and surroundings extemely satisfactory. Modern in decor, fresh and clean. The biggest letdown is the breakfast service, whilst the food is ok the wait makes this an arduous experience. If time is on your side and you want to read the morning paper then this is for you. Sort the breakfast service and its scores 5 in every area!

I visited this hotel with my 8 yr old son, as a base to take him to see some of the sights of London. The hotel is very stylish and modern, a change from my previous visit in 1975. The room we had was clean, well proportioned and very comfortable. The complimentary organic juices were a nice touch too. The staff were very friendly and helpful, whilst avoiding the intrusions one sometimes finds. It is very convenient for a whole range of attractions in London, and, with Liverpool St tube being on the central line, the West End is accessible too. Highly recommended.

Spot on

All good, service was excellent right from check in which was hassle free. Rooms good size and very well set out, bed was a delight. Mini bar was extortionate but they always are i suppose and there was no tea or coffee in the room which when have a hangover is a pain but nothing which would make me not choose hotel again. Ideally located as was busy on fri night when wanted to get around local area and sample the drinking establishments and quieter when all city workers left for their homes in the country easy to get into west end if desired and quick walk to tower hill and the river was good head clearer. Sweet.
