excellent location

This hotel was ideally located close to Hyde park - I was doing the moonwalk that evening & wanted somewhere as close as possible. On checking in we were upgraded to a suite which had everything we could want & a brilliant view.Even though we were on the 14th floor,we never had to wait longer than a few seconds for the lift to arrive. Just a pity we were out for most of the night, but appreciated the very comfortable bed on my return! we would definitely stay here again.

Good value

My room on the eleventh floor had been fairly recently refurbished and looked god, with excellent fittings. Worth asking for a room on a higher floor as I had a great view of Hyde Park and across to the city. Room was well-equipped and comfortable.

Not recommended

I was not impressed at all. The hotel staff who served us was rude and unfriendly and the parking was ridiculously expensive at £35 a night, although we found parking nearby which meant we didn't have to pay a silly price for just leaving our car in the car park! The room was supposed to be a deluxe superior room with a city view, but it was nothing special at all. The room was much tinier than expected and the bathroom was even tinier. Overall, did not have a pleasant stay and felt I was just totally ripped off! I read all the nice reviews about it here and got to the hotel and had a completely different experience. Would't go back again.

Not all that the adverts suggest

It was my girlfriends birthday and I decided to surprise her with a night away in London and decided to opt for the Royal Lancaster Hotel. The room type I chose was a superior double room with view between 13 - 17th Floor. All I received a basic room that was on a par with Holiday Inn, cheap and cheerful and astonishingly, on the third floor! The view was of the car park. I complained and was given the same room but on the 14th floor, with a better view, but not by much. The double bed were two singles ajoined and was uncomfortable to say the least, to sleep in. I appreciate that you won't always get what is pictured and that it is a guide, however I due feel duped and misled. Hidden Charges I was very surprised (again) to see that I would be charged £35 overnight parking, something that wasn't mentioned when booking. Furthermore, using the wireless internet was £17 for 24 hours, other hotels I've stayed in offer this useful service for free. My girlfriend and I had a lovely time in London, just slightly let down by this hotel.

Pleasantly old fashioned

Very pleasant hotel, well equipped but with a conference facility you'd think they might have intelligent Internet. Nope. Wifi on a few top floors, other rooms have pug-in Internet that was expensive and charged for each person. Since we were both doing business, this was a pain. The business center charges by the hour and has only one laptop connection -- Otherwise the hotel was fine, but this made our stay a challenge with the work we had to get done. Otherwise fine hotel.
