Description

Location. The Buckingham is a historic hotel in Bloomsbury in central London, England. The area is famous for the early 20th-century 'Bloomsbury Set' of writers and academics. The British Museum is 200 metres away from the hotel, and the British Library and Covent Garden are within half a mile. Russell Square Tube station is 200 metres from the hotel.
Hotel Features. Converted from a four-storey Georgian townhouse, the intimate hotel backs onto landscaped gardens overlooked by a terrace.

Breakfast is served in The Buckingham hotel's contemporary Garden Restaurant with garden access. Guests can enjoy drinks and snacks, and complimentary newspapers and magazines in the modern Clarendon Bar, which also opens onto the garden terrace.

Multilingual concierge staff can give sightseeing advice. Guests can use a nearby fitness centre, The Grange, at a reduced rate. It has an indoor pool, steam room and sauna and offers beauty therapies (surcharge).

Guestrooms. The Buckingham hotel's 51 guestrooms blend contemporary decor with authentic Georgian details such as fireplaces, sash windows and high ceilings with coving. The bright rooms have separate seating areas and kitchenettes with microwave ovens and refrigerators. There are also high-speed Internet connections, safes and tea/coffee making facilities. Additionally, the airport is on the Piccadilly line of the Underground, which runs directly to Russell Square, Kings Cross, Leicester Square, Knightsbridge and Green Park underground stations. Black taxis are available on the streets, but can be expensive. Driving is not recommended for visitors and a congestion charge zone is operated in central London.

Good Quality

within a block of the hotel, is a interior court with a wine bar and restaurant. A great place for a sunny afternoon or a warm evening.

A bit shabby

I was disaapointed with my stay at the Buckingham. It wasn't quite what we expected, and the room was uncomfortable, noisy and shabby. We had to go next door for the breakfast, there was no bar and the staff were friendly but not very helpful.

Very nice hotel

Very nice hotel with a great location. Staff very friendly and helpful. The room was very spacious and comfortable compared to the average in London. Very good value for the money I paid. I travel a lot to London for business purpose and definitely, I will stay again in the same hotel.

Excellent location - will definitely use this hotel again

We stayed here for a few days over New Year and found the hotel to be comfortable, quiet and in an excellent location. The Buckingham is one of a series of hotels located in one of the large elegant Bloomsbury townhouses. Our reservation included the continental breakfast which was good value. This is a great location for the British Museum and University of London but also within easy walking distance of Soho, Seven Dials, Covent Garden, Oxford Street etc.

Good deal in London

It is interesting (and cheap) to hop on one of the city buses (double deckers) for a long trip across/around the city. (Maps with bus routes available on line, or on signs near bus stops) We took a bus from Russel Square to Elephant and Castle (Imperial War Museum) and then went on the same bus route to North Greenwich (O2 Dome). This rather long bus trip winds through southern neighborhoods--you get a view of everyday London.

Tranquil in London

This hotel is quiet and well located -- very near the British Museum and several Tube stops. The breakfast buffet was lovely. The bedroom and bathroom were huge -- a luxury for London! Having a refrigerator in the room was a big help too! The staff members were efficient and helpful, and I would definitely stay here again.
