Description

Location. Housed in a grade II listed building, The Grainstore Apartments are a luxury modern apartment block situated on the waterfront opposite the ExCel Exhibition Centre, within six miles of London's West End. London City Airport is one mile from the hotel, with an approximate driving time of five minutes.
Hotel Features. Originally built in the 19th century as a cargo store, the apartments offer a concierge service and dry cleaning facilities, and transport from the airport can be arranged (for a fee). For those arriving by car, parking is available in the ExCel Conference Centre car- park opposite the hotel (surcharge).

Guestrooms. The block offers apartments located over four floors, all of which feature contemporary decor in neutral tones. Apartments open on to balconies and include kitchens with white units and stainless steel finishing including microwaves, hobs, dishwashers and washing machines. Sitting rooms have leather seating and wooden floors, and further amenities include wireless Internet, plasma-screen televisions with satellite channels and DVD players, and direct-dial phones. Bathrooms provide designer toiletries and hair dryers.

Expert Tip. City Cruises operate three miles from the hotel and take in London landmarks including the Houses of Parliament, Tower Bridge, the London Eye and St Paul's Cathedral.

Directions

Getting there. Taxis leave from in front of the terminal building, costing approximately £10 to the hotel. The Apartments also offer an airport transfer service (surcharge). Frequent shuttle bus services operate to and from the airport and Liverpool Street Station (Central, Circle, Metropolitan and Hammersmith and City Lines) via Canary Wharf (Jubilee Line, DLR) and to Canning Town station (Jubilee Line, DLR, Silverlink Metro). A one-way ticket costs from £3-£6.50. Local buses also serve the airport. The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) runs from Bank, Tower Gateway, Lewisham and Greenwich to Canary Wharf.

Driving directions. From the airport, follow signs for the Royal Docks, City Airport and ExCel.

Very noisy

Very expensive for poor quality, very noisy place (ie impossible to sleep when planes starts landing at City airport). Poor quality of furniture, a closet fell on me!!! I thought I would never manage to get out & got hurt on the back & neck
