NO AIR CONDITIONING

there is no air conditioning in the hotel. the windows do not open. The furniture in the room was very old and scratched. Some of the tiles in the bathroom were cracked. The bathroom itslef was small as was the supposed double room. The only benefits of this hotel are its location which is excellent and the staff who are very polite and very helpful.

Everything to hand that one could ask for. The weather was also very kind to us. Went up to Greenwich - a must.

Old and tiny - but great location

I had occassion to stay at the Strand Palace Hotel for three nights in late June 2008. The staff was friendly (read proffessional), check in/out effecient. The room - an upgraded club class - was clean and modern, but very tiny for the price. It was comfortable and reasonably quiet - thank god for the room fan, or it would have been too hot (late June - duh!). The hotel is worn - many frad carpets in hallways and rooms - but its location is fantastic. Close to everything (even for a limited walker like me), this was the main reason for my choice of this hotel. I did not try the resteraunts or bar - the breakfast offered was incredibly expensive (I had cheaper dinners at the restraunts close to the hotel). Overall, the small room and obvious age of the hotel was minor compared to the cleanliness, staff, and location. I would consider a return.

Situated in a very central location literally 10 minute walk from all the major tourist attractions.

There is no need to use the tube if staying at this hotel - just use the Thames Clipper for visiting the O2, London Bridge and Tower of London. Within walking distance of most other attractions.
