I chose the hotel for it's location and convenience as I could take the tube from Heathrow on Picadilly Line. The staff were polite, as they all are in the UK, and when I asked for a "quiet room" the receptionist upgraded me to a better room, higher and that was very nice. I would definitely stay there again if I go back to London.

The Thistle is worth a stay for location alone. Just off Leicester square - ideal for west end theatres ,or shopping in Oxford Street, socialising in Soho. The hotel itself is adequate and comfortable.

Although the location of the hotel is wonderful, the service left much to be desired. They could not find my reservation for nearly 6 hours and that left me wandering London like character straight out of Dickens. Finally, after arguing with the front desk clerk, they "let me" charge a room to my credit card and move into one of the smallest rooms I have ever stayed in. I asked for an electrical adapter so I could get caught up on emails and they immediately asked to take it back for another guest. They told me at checkout that they had found my reservation. While it was correctly in my name, they had been looking under a mispelling of my name. Nothing but a "sorry" and an assurance that my card would not be billed. Room service broght me cold coffee with no sugar. I asked for sugar to brought up, but then the coffee got freezing cold and they tried to bill me for a fresh pot.

It's right in the think of Piccadilly. It's loud at night if that's what you are looking for. The room I stayed in was small, very small. I could feel the springs in the bed. The bathroom was very outdated. I found for the money I spent, I could have found something better. I could not make international calls from my hotel room with a calling card, not sure why! Close to all the attractions, walking distances. Overall hotel experience = Disappointed.

On the whole this is a good hotel. My only negative comments are; Room Service: Having spent 15 minutes trying to get the Room Service number I gave up. Another couple I was staying with did the same and a third complained whilst I was in reception. Breakfast: was adequate but not good value for the cost. The single rooms are a little cramped.

This is a very tired and run down hotel. Can't fault the cleanliness and staff were very friendly, but the price of the room that didn't even include breakfast was expwensive and not good value. We are Londoners, only staying overnight because we were at a late party nearby and just wanted somewhere close by to crash, but if I were a tourist coming to London for the first time, I would be less than impressed.

Located right by Leicester Square, it's at least a 10 minute walk away from all main shopping areas or you can get a taxi for ??10. I would stay there again, single rooms are bigger than I expected, would recommend this hotel...

Title says it all really. Perfect location for access to the West End but the bedrooms were very small and the decor and fittings were rather shabby, which was disappointing considering the premium prices we were paying. The staff were unfailingly polite, helpful and cheerful.

Stayed in August 2008 and very impressed with location, how quiet it was considering the location (we were on the 6th floor) and the friendliness and helpfulness of staff. Would definitely stay again, but only at Expedia rates - late booking rates are far too high, even for London.

Stayed for two nights at the thistle. Very central to shops, theatreland and eateries-ideal for how we wanted to spend the weekend. We had done a trip to london before and stuggled on finding places to eat-but we were located at the wrong end! We were upgraded upon arrival and the room was airy, clean and bright. A lovely big bed and could watch the hustle and bustle of Leicester Square. The only downside was there werent enough tables at breakfast so you had to wait for others to finish-maybe this should have been highlighted when you first arrived and also on the friday night there was meeting point for motorbikes just opposite at one o'clock in the morning, who then started revving their engines very very loudly!-not the hotels fault but maybe not ideal for children!Overall we had a wonderful weekend and would definitely stay again.
